Rural Partners Network: The Rural Partners Network (RPN) is an alliance of federal agencies and commissions working directly with rural communities to expand rural prosperity through job creation, infrastructure development, and community improvement. Their website includes information about available funding programs and opportunities here.
NERDE: The National Economic Economic Resilience Data Explorer (NERDE) provides local economic recovery and resilience analysis. The NERDE consolidates information and data on economic distress criteria, COVID-19 impacts to local economies, and the existence and emergence of industry clusters. This tool was developed in partnership with the US Dept. of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration and Argonne National Laboratory.
OnTheMap (access it here) is a web-based mapping and reporting application that uses Census data to show where workers are employed and where they live. It also provides companion reports on age, earnings, industry distributions, race, ethnicity, educational attainment, and sex.
CART: The Community Assessment Reporting Tool (CART) is a reference tool designed by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to display HUD’s investments in communities across the United States. Use the Search bar to enter a name of a City, County, Metropolitan Area or State to see many of HUD’s investments or use the Advanced Search for more options. CART can easily generate reports in PDF and Excel.
PolicyMap (access it here) is a mapping application, analytics platform, and data licensing services are built for non-GIS professionals, data-literate researchers, and everyone in between. There is a free version that is still useful with data categories including Demographics, Incomes and Spending, Housing, Lending, Quality of Life, Economy, Education, Health, and Federal Guidelines.
CEDS: 2022-2027 Columbia Gorge Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy has sections summarizing key economic and demographic data in the region, with more detailed information in Appendix C.
