Text Box: While the MCEDD region underwent many demographic changes during the 1990s, perhaps the most significant is the relative increase in races that have not traditionally been a significant part of the population.  The biggest increase was in persons of Hispanic or Latino descent, their population almost doubled.  Even with this increase in the diversity of the region, it still remains largely white.
