Hood River Receives $500,000
in Federal EDA Investment
Funds
|
On April 21 U.S.
Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic
Development Sandy K. Baruah and U.S.
Representative Greg Walden presented a $500,000
Economic Development Administration
(EDA)
investment check to the City of Hood River and the
Port of Hood River, Oregon.
The
investment will help build roadway improvements to
the Port of Hood River that will improve the flow
of commercial traffic, allowing existing
businesses to expand and attract new businesses
and jobs to the region. The investment is expected
to create 62 jobs and spur $13.5 million in
private investment.
EDA is a parent agency
for
MCEDD.

MCEDD Hires New Executive
Director |
Amanda
Remington stepped into the Executive Director
position on May 1 with the goal to strengthen
MCEDD's role as a regional agency and carry out
the core programs of regional coordination,
technical assistance, and business
assistance.
She
initially joined MCEDD as a project manager to
coordinate the Gorge Technology Alliance, administer Community
Block Grants, cultivate regional clusters and
provide administration for the Oregon Investment
Board.Having gown up on
a small wheat farm in the Gorge and graduated from
Whitman College, she has strong ties to this area
and is committed to the success of community and
economic development efforts in the region.

EDA Welcomes New Economic
Development Representative
|
MCEDD
joins the Economic Development Administration in
welcoming David Porter to their staff as the new
Economic Development Representative for the State
of Oregon.
David
has extensive business and economic development
experience and most recently served as a Business
Development Manager with the Washington State Dept
of Community, Trade and Economic
Development. |

Manager. This individual will
manage MCEDD's loan portfolio and explore
opportunities to increase program funding. Closing
