Text Box: The above graph show the relative importance of public vs. private sector employment to the overall economy of each county.  Wasco and Hood River Counties are the only ones in which private sector employment is responsible for more than half of the total payrolls.  Skamania County is the most dependent on public sector funds, which account for almost two-thirds of total payroll income.
