Deputy Director of Economic Development
Mid-Columbia Economic Development District is seeking a Deputy Director of Economic Development. This individual manages MCEDD’s economic development division including several direct reports. The individual also works with staff and partners to support community economic development project strategy and implementation, and provides strategic leadership for MCEDD’s work in close partnership with the Executive Director.
The successful candidate will possess: Broad-based and detailed knowledge of community and economic development principles and practices; Working knowledge of project management, budgeting practices, strategic planning and employee development and supervision; Strong relationship building skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Proficiency in handling a multitude of varied projects without much guidance; Working knowledge of rules and regulations governing local government, state and federal/community development programs; Experience with the grant process from application development to implementation; Experience with and desire for management of staff; and a positive “can do” attitude, especially to provide superb customer service.
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, planning or economic development, or related field plus five years of progressively responsible supervisory or managerial service, preferably within an economic development setting, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above duties. This position will be dependent on passing a background check.

Salary range is approximately $88K to $92K, pending Board approval. Placement within the range depends on qualifications. Position open until filled. Mount Hood Economic Alliance Seeks Budget Committee Representatives
Mount Hood Economic Alliance (MHEA) is seeking individuals willing to serve on its budget committee. This volunteer position requires a minimal time commitment with a pre-meeting reading of the budget packet that will be sent out via email one week before the meeting, review and approval of the prepared budget at a one-hour virtual meeting in May to make a recommendation to the MHEA Board.

- Applicants must be representative of the services provided by MHEA, involved with small business or economic development within Clackamas, Hood River or Wasco Counties.
- Applicants must reside within one of the three counties named above.
- Experience with business, budgeting, finance, banking, or public program oversight is a plus but not required.
- All positions are non-paid.
- All interest forms will be reviewed and provided to the MHEA Board of Directors for appointment.
MHEA was formed through an intergovernmental agreement in 2005 between Clackamas, Hood River and Wasco Counties, with an updated intergovernmental agreement signed in 2023. Originally the conduit for management and investment of one of Oregon’s lottery fund programs—Regional Strategies—the Alliance now focuses exclusively on providing gap financing loans for local businesses. The primary work conducted by the MHEA Board is the provision of low-interest loan funding for business development projects that create jobs and leverage additional investment in Clackamas, Hood River and Wasco Counties.
