Key Investment Principles
Key elements, intended to focus on and draw on the most promising economic opportunities for the region:
Infrastructure Improvements and Expansions to support growth in employment and facilitate the efficient use or redevelopment of limited available land, including:
- Water, sewer
- High-technology, telecommunications
- Transportation improvements
- Inventory and develop industrial land
- Increase business/commercial space
Business Development/Recruitment and Assistance to achieve growth and diversification, including:
- Coordinated marketing of the Gorge Region
- Focus on existing, emerging and home-based businesses
- Provide access to capital
- Emphasis on value-added agricultural products and processing
- Support year-round tourism
- Support reuse, recycling, waste reduction, and by-product based projects
Workforce Training/Development to employ citizens of the Gorge Counties, including:
- Linkages between businesses and community colleges
- Focus on the home-based workforce
- Build skills of current workers to prepare for new technology
- Efforts to reduce seasonal unemployment
