The Governors of Oregon and Washington have nominated certain eligible census tracts for Opportunity Zone status. The nominations have been submitted to the US Department of the Treasury for consideration of official designation. The designation would potentially provide the opportunity to offer federal tax breaks to encourage development and job creation.
